Terms of service

These terms govern your use of AgencyAegis. Using the service means you accept them. They are written to be read, so if something here is unclear, ask and we will explain it rather than point at a clause.

What the service does

AgencyAegis checks pages that are supposed to carry a link to your site, on a schedule, and records what it finds. When a link changes or disappears it tells you, and it keeps a dated record of the evidence behind that conclusion.

The service reads publicly accessible web pages. It does nothing to the pages it reads, it makes no attempt to influence rankings, and it is a monitoring tool rather than a link building service.

What the service honestly cannot do

This section matters more than most, so it sits near the top rather than buried near the bottom.

• Some publishers refuse automated readers. When we cannot read a page after repeated attempts, we report that as "could not check" rather than guessing. We will never tell you a link is gone on the strength of a page we failed to load.
• A check is a point in time. A page can change between checks. The record shows what was true when we looked.
• Search index data comes from third parties. Whether a page is indexed is sourced from external providers and reflects their view, which can lag or disagree with what you see.
• We do not guarantee detection of every change. We guarantee that what we report is backed by evidence we actually captured.

Your account

You need a working email address. Sign in is by emailed link, so there is no password for you to manage or for us to lose. You are responsible for the security of the mailbox that receives those links.

You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract. If you use the service for an organisation, you confirm you may accept these terms for it.

Acceptable use

You may monitor links pointing to properties you own or that you are engaged to work on. You may not use the service to place load on a third party site, to circumvent access controls, or to monitor at a volume plainly disproportionate to legitimate verification.

We apply per domain rate limits and honour a reasonable crawl delay. Attempting to defeat those limits is a breach of these terms.

Plans, billing and cancellation

Current plans are a free tier at 5 links, Guard at $10 per month for 100 links, and Agency at $49 per month for 500 links. Paid plans bill monthly in advance through Stripe, which handles your card details; we never see or store a card number.

You can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. Refunds are covered in the refunds and cancellation policy, which forms part of these terms.

Prices can change. Existing subscribers get at least 30 days notice by email before a change affects them.

Your data and your evidence

The link lists you upload and the evidence records generated from them are yours. We store and process them to run the service, as described in the privacy policy. You can export or delete them at any time.

Evidence records are captures of publicly accessible pages, timestamped and hashed. They are intended to be useful in a commercial conversation with a supplier. They are records of what we observed, and they are not legal advice or a certification of anything.

Availability

We aim to run continuously and we do not promise a specific uptime figure. Checks can be delayed by publisher outages, third party providers, or maintenance. Where a check is delayed, the record shows the actual time it ran.

Liability

The service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim connected to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

We are not liable for lost rankings, lost revenue, or a commercial outcome with a supplier. Those depend on decisions and parties outside our control. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using the service and close your account whenever you like. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that is used unlawfully, or where required by law. If we close your account for a reason other than a breach by you, we refund the unused part of the current period.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is material we will email account holders at least 30 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the change.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The Tokyo District Court has exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance for any dispute arising from them.
